How to install Websphere Commerce Developer

Minimum and recommended hardware

Intel Pentium III 800 MHz processor Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz processor
2 GB RAM 3 GB RAM.
13 GB hard disk space divided:

  • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.0 Rational Application Developer Version 7.5.4 10 GB
  • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.1 Rational Application Developer Version 7.5.5.1 10 GB
  • WebSphere Commerce Developer 3.6 GB
13 GB hard disk space divided:

  • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.0 Rational Application Developer Version 7.5.4 10 GB
  • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.1 Rational Application Developer Version 7.5.5.1 10 GB
  • WebSphere Commerce Developer 3.6 GB
  1. Install Rational Application Developer
  2. Applying fixed to the WebSphere Application Server Test Environment
  3. Applying fixes to Rational Application Developer
  4. Install WebSphere Commerce toolkit
  5. Install the IBM Sales Center toolkit

1. Install Rational Application Developer.

– CZ7R0ML WebSphere Commerce Rational Application Developer V7.5.4 Core 1 Multillingual –> RAD\disk1
– CZ7TDML WebSphere Commerce Rational Application Developer V7.5.4 Core 2 Multillingual –> RAD\disk2
– CZ7TEML WebSphere Commerce Rational Application Developer V7.5.4 Core 3 Multillingual –> RAD\disk3
– CZ7TFML WebSphere Commerce Rational Application Developer V7.5.4 Core 4 Multillingual –> RAD\disk4
– CZ7TGML WebSphere Commerce Rational Application Developer V7.5.4 Core 5 Multillingual –> RAD\disk5

OK, we got 2 folders: RAD_SETUP and RAD. Enter RAD_SETUP\launchpad.exe then choose Install

RAD_SETUP_install_packages

Shared Resource Directory: D:\IBM\SDPShared
Installation Directory: D:\IBM\SDP

Should set path like this. It’s short.

* Note the red circle, option must be chose like this.

Do not select Create a profile on the Configuration for IBM WebSphere Application Server panel.

2. Applying fixed to the WebSphere Application Server Test Environment

CZ7QIML –> WAS

Enter folder: WAS\disk2\WAS\install.exe

* Apply maintenance or add features to an existing installaion. If you don’t see this option, you should re-intall step 1.

3. Applying fixes to Rational Application Developer

  1. Open Installation Manager.
  2. From the Start page, select Update.
  3. Select the IBM Rational Application Developer or IBM Rational Software Architect package and click Next.
  4. The Update packages wizard detects all of the applicable fixes. Recommended features are automatically selected. Select the updates you want to apply and click Next

Notes: Do not install the updates listed under IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 test. Uncheck any fixes for the test environment. The supported version of the test server is version 7.0.0.3.

Need to connect with fast internet.

4. Install WebSphere Commerce toolkit

CZ6CLML WebSphere Commerce Developer Enterprise V7.0 for Windows Multilingual –> WCDE folder.

  1. Open Installation Manager.
  2. Add the WebSphere Commerce repository location to the Installation Manager:
    1. On the Start page of Installation Manager, click File > Preferences, and then click Repositories. The Repositories page opens, showing any available repositories, their locations, and whether they are connected.
    2. On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.
    3. In the Add Repository dialog box, click Browse. Navigate to the location of your WebSphere Commerce Developer DVD and select the repository.config file, and then click OK. The new repository location is listed.
    4. Click Test Connections to ensure that the Repository URL is available.
  3. From the Start page, click Install. The Installation Manager searches its defined repositories for available packages.
  4. Select the WebSphere Commerce Developer package. Click Next.

    Do not install the updates listed under IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0 test. Uncheck any fixes for the test environment. The supported version of the test server is version 7.0.0.3.

Changing the development database type using the setdbtype command:

  1. Navigate to the WCDE_installdir/bin directory.
  2. Complete one of the following commands depending on the database you are switching to:
    • DB2 setdbtype db2 DB2_HOME dbName dbAdminID dbAdminPassword dbUserID dbUserPassword [dbHost dbServerPort dbNode]
    • Oracle setdbtype oracle ORACLE_HOME dbName dbAdminID dbAdminPassword dbUserID dbUserPassword [dbHost dbServerPort] [createdb]
    • Apache Derby setdbtype cloudscape [createdb]

Example with DB2: D:\IBM\WCDE_ENT70\bin\>  setdbtype db2 D:\IBM\SQLLIB WCEDEV4 db2admin db2admin db2admin db2admin db.quachson.com 50000 NODEDEV0

* Start WebSphere Commerce Developer Enterprise: Start /All Programs / IBM / WebSphere / WebSphere Commerce / IBM WebSphere Commerce Developer
